A butterfly time piece by Graff

I adore this perfectly detailed watch by Graff. The layers in the colours and shapes intrigues the eye. Graff’s butterfly watches are inspired by the delicate symmetry of butterfly wings including pear shaped diamonds and 56 sapphires.

Unfortunately this time piece comes with an expensive price tag, so expensive you have to enquire for the price. The daily mail has featured this watch in it’s ‘A guide to this year’s best and VERY expensive watches‘ article and has quoted the price at £86,000. It is so stunning so I can see why.

Matisse on your jewellery this Summer

Image
Pop art and Matisse inspired fashion stepped onto our catwalks last year. Showcasing the trend for Spring/Summer 2014. The block patterns and contrasting colours will turn our summer wardrobes into art boxes. Summer is approaching us fast as we head into June and London has already seen a few BBQ weekends, the bright colours and paint stroke geometric shapes from the shows will come onto the streets. I am going to take a look at jewellery drawn out the art box. To fit the Matisse inspired look of this Summer. I am hoping to find bold shapes, fine artistic detail and intricate cut-outs.
Speaking of cut-outs, Tate Modern has opened an exhibition dedicated to the paper collages that Henri Matisse is famous for. The artist lost his eye sight after an operation during his creative career, so instead of giving up he used scissors and paper to create his art. His collages are full of energy with free hand shapes. His cut-out art is a primary influencer in Summer 2014 fashion. Designers such as Celine and Tatanaka have dipped into Matisse’s art box for his hand at fashion cut-outs.
(The Tate Modern exhibition is called “Henri Matisse: The Cut-Outs” and is open from April 17 to September 7th)

There is an array of bulky shapes and primary colours in the shops this summer. The Marni collection is spot on Matisse with playful shapes and solid colours, Prada has picked up on the large shapes with statement bangles in solid tones and intricate diamond details. The high street will also possess this artsy faze with a geometric stone choker in Topshop. The beautifully detailed ring by BayouGlassArts is available on Etsy. It is handmade and features a matisse style drawing.

My valentine trinket

For my first post I am going to reveal all about one of my personal trinkets. It’s a bracelet I wear everyday.

I once thought I lost it after my cheerleading practise, and very nearly dashed to Jack Wills in Islington to purchase a new one before someone noticed my bare wrist. Although I know that it wouldn’t have been the same as wearing my original bracelet.

My trinket looks quite shabby now and is probably better explained as a piece of rope wrapped around my wrist, but to me is symbolises my boyfriend and our backpacking adventure. It was my first valentines present from him and instead of buying me the cliche roses, he got me a Jack Wills rope bracelet that reminded him of those embroidered friendship bracelets, most commonly bought whilst in a foreign country on an adventure. I thought it was the perfect gift as it symbolises everything about us and our backpacking journey. In the gift bag too was another matching bracelet for him to wear which i thought was really cute.

Luckily I found my trinket outside my front door and now never take it off.
